Weeks State Park Association history
The Association was conceived in 1981 in response to drastic reductions in the NH Parks Department budget. Initial plans called for the closing of the Park for two years. Whitefield, NH, resident Philip Quinn, negotiated an arrangement with the Director of the Division of Parks, Paul F. Doherty, so that local volunteers could staff the Park, thus keeping the Park open.
The formalizing of the Weeks State Park Association was accomplished in 1983.
