Come join us Thursday, July 9 at 6 PM at the newly renovated House Museum for our free summer program: Raptors Up Close. This program will be presented by the Vermont Institute of Natural Sciences and is sponsored by the Beliveau Family.

Please note that although the renovations to the House Museum are complete, our new lift that could bring people with mobility issues up to the 2nd floor Great Room will not be available for this event.

Take flight with the Vermont Institute of Natural Science on an unforgettable experience! In this live bird demonstration, you’ll gain an up-close view and an in-depth understanding of these majestic birds. The naturalists from VINS will bring three live birds with them!

Live falcons, hawks and owls provide the lens through which we examine food webs, predator-prey relationships and the interdependence of the systems that support life. This first-hand encounter enables participants to understand the defining characteristics that make a bird a raptor and their adaptations for life as a predator on the wing. Touchable artifacts and hands-on materials round out this special experience.

VINS' mission is to motivate individuals and communities to care for the environment through education, research, and avian wildlife rehabilitation. Their programs and services engage and instill in people of all backgrounds a desire to care for the wildlife and diverse natural habitats they encounter in their daily lives. VINS has been a leader in environmental education and wildlife conservation and care since 1972.
